About SustAI
The UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Sustainability (SustAI) is strategically located within the dynamic academic community of the University of Southampton. Situated at the Highfield Campus, our CDT thrives through collaboration with key institutes such as the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) and the Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics. ECS, a leading department in the UK, hosts the Centre for Machine Intelligence and the Centre for Internet of Things and Pervasive Systems, providing a solid foundation for our research in AI for sustainability.
In addition to our foundational partnerships, SustAI collaborates with prominent institutes at the University of Southampton. The Sustainability and Resilience Institute (SRI) further enriches our collaborative network, reinforcing our commitment to addressing global sustainability challenges. Expanding our horizons, SustAI actively engages with the Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (TAS) Hub, contributing to advancements in safe AI systems. Our collaborations extend to Responsible AI (RAI) UK and the Low Carbon Comfort Centre of Excellence (LCCC). The University is a member of the Alan Turing Institute, providing our students with access to that important network. These partnerships underscore SustAI’s dedication to interdisciplinary research, positioning our CDT as a pioneering force at the forefront of AI and sustainability intersections.
