“As an international student, I was deeply touched by the considerate arrangements made regarding the time difference between countries. The entire interview was in a relaxed and pleasant vibe, and what impressed me most was the sense of equality. The questions were not only to test whether I had a clear understanding of my research proposal and the potential research methods but also showed an intention to idea exchange. Through the conversation, I could strongly feel the effort that the management team had put into building a collaborative and supportive environment. This means a lot to me, as the journey of a PhD may be filled with challenges and moments of loneliness.”
“I expected the interview process to be significantly scarier beforehand but felt immediately calmed by Enrico and Stephanie. I myself came from an Engineering background so I had anticipated being scrutinised on my lack of AI knowledge but was instead supported and guided through my ideas. By the end we were having an engaging discussion, as opposed to a harsh technical interview. After the interview and application process, it made me want the position more and so I was ecstatic when I received my offer. Looking forward to many more years with the SustAI family 😊”
“Being part of the CDT has overall been a positive experience for me. The management team is generally supportive and approachable, and I’ve appreciated that they do try to listen and help when issues come up. Knowing there is a structure in place and people you can reach out to makes the PhD feel a bit less overwhelming.
What I value most is the sense of community within the cohort and the opportunities the CDT provides for training, development and connecting with different areas of research. It’s helped me feel more confident in shaping my project and finding my direction.
I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunities the programme offers and for the people who make the environment feel welcoming and connected.”
